Every winery we work with is directly connected to the communities we serve – that’s why Grassroots is compelled to build meaningful and profitable relationships between our producers, our team, and our customers. Want to work with us? Get started.

Founded by Nicki and Harry Root in 2003, Grassroots Wine has grown one of the finest portfolios of wine available in the Southeast’s most exciting markets.

We’re forever drawn to wine’s innate sense of community – both the way it’s produced and the way it’s enjoyed. This has shaped the Grassroots philosophy since our founding – we believe it is our role to build a bridge between outstanding, adventurous wine producers and the thoughtful, discerning wine drinkers in our markets.

Grassroots is distinctive because we provide exceptional programming for our customers, thus continuing to build meaningful relationships between our producers and our community. Our complimentary educational trade events are an investment in our community at large, conveying winemakers’ passion with every sip.

Chris Shultz

A Pacific Northwest boy from Portland, Oregon, Chris has found a happy home with Grassroots Wine. A restaurant veteran who cought the wine fever working at a French restaurant where the great Alsatian chef André Soltner was guest Chef de Cuisine. This sparked the next 20 years traveling to Europe and learning everything possible from mentors Brian Martin and Peter Liem. Days off are spent losing golf balls and miles on the vélo.

Kevin Parks

Kevin Parks, or KP to all in the Upstate, spent a decade working in the restaurants in North Carolina. After falling in love with wine he decided to dive fully into the wine industry. Moving from Charlotte to Greenville in 2021, KP has fallen in love with the upstate’s growing food and, more importantly, wine scene. He is currently sitting for the Advanced Sommelier Certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Lauren Baisley

Lauren started her career in the hospitality industry in Charleston, and the Holy City is where she fell in love with all things wine and food.
After moving to the Upstate in 2017, she worked for an importer and distributor for many years, further immersing herself in the wine world.
She is happiest spending time with her husband and son hiking, going to concerts, baking, and taking trips with friends.
